The Grandparents come to visit...

My parents came to visit us for Thanksgiving and we had a great time! They flew in on Tuesday night and left us on Sunday afternoon. We had lots of food and watched football and Kung Fu Panda. We didn't really do anything exciting, just hanging out. But when you live so far away you don't get to do that too often. My mom and I did brave the crowds on black friday to do some shopping, but we didn't go until 10am. There's no way I'd get up too early to go shopping. We at least got to spend some much needed quality time together and the kids had fun.

Grandma and Grandpa

This was the best we could get, there was a football game on :)

We have a floater...

Caleb took some swimming lessons at the COM and had a blast! Here are some pics of his last day.

The champion swimmer with his medal. He was sure proud of that :)

At the end of the lesson he got to ride around in style.

He had a lot of fun, so we'll have to sign him up again soon!

What's the hold up...

For about the last month, maybe more, I have been working on stuff for the Stake activity. So between that and remodeling the house, my house has definately suffered! I was in charge of the decorating(thanks very much Mark!) :) Anyway, so I was scrambling trying to find ideas and asking others what they thought. So we came up with the Winter Wonderland theme and for some reason I just kept thinking I wanted to use tulle. Usually it is for wedding decor, but it definately was worth it. For those of you who missed it, I got a few pics. But they are blurry and so these don't show it off quite right, it was way too awesome! I didn't even get what the DJ had and it was the icing on the cake :) The first pic is our family in the photo booth, you should have come just for the pics! The second pic is super cute! They danced together almost the whole time :)

Our Christmas card picture 2008, um..hello Caleb, you are supposed to smile! :)

Kylan and Karmen, learning how to cha-cha

You can barely see it, but the tulle is draped on the trees and hanging down. It looked great in person!

More trees, and can you see the tulle hanging from the ceiling?

This was the chandelier and it all turned out fabulous, if I do say so myself! I can't take all the credit though, I had some great helpers and it all came together just right! If you missed out, too bad for you! Next year should be fun too!

So now that it's all over I can get back to cleaning up all the mess that has been ignored. Wait, maybe I can volunteer for something else! :)

At long last...

We finally got our carpet in and it looks great! These pictures don't do it justice! You'll just have to come see it or take my word for it :) I love it! Now my house can be put back together and we can have a normal life :) Oh wait, do I have a normal life? Haha That's another can of worms!

This is Hannah trying out the carpet before the guys finished it, see the tools right in front of her. She really wanted the guys cell phone!

Here is the after shot, right by the fireplace there used to be tile, now it's gone.

This is what it was before, it actually looks pretty good in this pic, I didn't get a pic of the real before, it was bad!

It looks like a whole new house! Maybe now I can convince my hubby that we need new furniture :)

Halloween 2008

We had a ward trunk or treat so we all got dressed up. Here we are!

Our cute little kitty cat

A crazy witch and her black cat...yes that is my real hair, it was a lot bigger before we went :) and no I won't be doing that again :)

The boys were baseball players and Dad was a soccer player, you can't see it, but he has the shin guards and socks on too :)

End of season party...

On friday we got to go to Chucke Cheese's for Kylan's end of season party. The kids had a lot of fun, and I ate way too much of the cardboard pizza! Here are some highlights of the night.

Here we are in our fun matching festive shirts. We got the idea from family fun magazine and they were super easy to do!

Kylan eating with his team. It's pretty blurry, those boys didn't want to sit still!

Hannah enjoyed her drive with Chucke!

Kylan was proud of his trophy! Look at that smile!

Duh!

Yahoo!!

We are getting new carpet! We finally made a decision! After several trips for different samples and lots of begging on my part :) We have ordered it and we should be able to get it installed within a week or so. Persistance does pay off! I don't have a pic of it, but soon you will see the before and after. Stay tuned! :)

In the downy dumps...

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I feel depressed. It's probably a combination of many things. Probably at the top of the list is the fact that my baby isn't much of a baby anymore. My little itsy bitsy isn't so bitsy. She's growing up way too fast. And I did finally just wean her off of her last feeding, so that's probably the biggest thing that would be wrong with me. My hormones are going crazy! I feel so sad though that I don't have that connection with her anymore. Geez, just typing this is making me blubber! Anyway, then there are the holidays coming up, which are great, but not so great without family. My parents will be coming for Thanksgiving, and I am way excited about that. But who knows when we will see our family again....it's so stinkin expensive to travel so far. Oh how I wish I could move Midland closer to my family. And another thing that's bugging me is deciding on carpet to put in our house. It seems like every sample I bring home has something wrong with it. The ones I like are too expensive and I don't want to just settle for the cheap stuff. Why can't I just find the perfect one? Is that so much to ask? Don't worry about answering, it just feels great to get it out! So that's what is bothering me today, along with other things, but I don't want to be too depressing. On a happier note, it's only a month now until I get to see my parents! Yippee!! I leave you with a couple pics of my little peanut, just to show you how small she really was.

Look how small she was, this was a newborn size dress and she was drowning in it :)

This is her right after her first birthday

So true, so true...

I found Caleb a shirt on the clearance rack and I just had to have it for him. I'm not sure if you can read it in the pics, so I'll tell you what it says. "Mr. Mischief...Trouble is my middle name." It is him to a T! But I try not to point it out to him too much, you know the whole labeling thing. Maybe he'll grow out of it, right? I can dream, can't I?

That look says, "Take the picture Mom!"

Look at that face! Trouble!

Check out the silly smile

Baby blue eyes...

I got this picture at Kylan's soccer game the other night. Isn't she just precious?

Monday, October 13, 2008

My cup runneth o'er...

No wait...it's my toilet! Yep, you read it right, my toilet over flowed! It has been making wierd noises the last couple days and gurgling when I flushed it. So today it decided to overflow, and it wasn't a pretty site! Let's just say I was disinfecting the room the rest of the night! Oh and it happened while I was trying to make dinner and get the kids fed before Kylan's soccer game. It was fabulous! Moral of the story is..."Don't piss off your toilet, or it will get you in the end!" I know, I have a potty mouth! Ha Ha, I kill me! Sorry, it's been a long day :) Hope that you all had a better one!

Come one, come all....

I had a crazy idea just now. I made this cute bow holder for Hannah and some cute clippies. I thought, "Hey, why not see if anybody else wants one, or two, or however many?" So if anyone is interested in one or both (and some korker bows will be coming soon) just let me know. I am willing to make them for you and it won't cost too much. Just let me know what colors and I can figure out the price. I guess I'll see how many are interested and see what I can come up with for the deal. It's super cute and keeps those bows and clips handy for doing cute hairdos! Just leave me a comment and we can go from there! Thanks!

Here is the bow holder, sorry the picture is kind of blurry.

This is made with the 1/4 inch ribbon. This clippie works good for a one year old or younger. I will be making bigger ones soon for older girls.

This shows you the size, just big enough to cover the clip and still be cute!

Yet another project...

But this one was finished in one day! WAHOO!!! Go me!! I just thought I'd share my wonderful artwork with you. I painted these pictures on Saturday while listening to conference, it was very theraputic! :) And now the boys have something to hang in their room, finally!

Sports balls to go along with the blankets mom made. (well one is in the works!) The one on the end that you can't really see is a part of a basketball, and my favorite one.

I'm new at this

It's different having a little girl. I am not used to cutesy hair dos and such. That's probably why I just stick to the cute headbands and clippies! So I got this idea from a friend because this doing girls hair stuff is new to me. Thanks for the idea Laura! So I tried out some piggy tails on Hannah, in her case they might be called mullet tails :) She was pretty squirmy so please don't laugh. It was our first try, and we'll see how long they last. She doesn't seem to mind stuff in her hair, so that's good. In fact, the other day her hair clip came out and she picked it up and handed it to me. Then she stood there until I put it back in! She's too cute!

It's kind of hard to see, but there are little pony tails there

Here's a shot of the back, I need some work on the parting :)

She was getting sick of the picture taking, check out that glare!

And I don't know if you can zoom in or not mom, but I finally made that lady bug shirt with the iron ons that you gave me, was that really a year ago? HAHA

The hard work is paying off

We have changed the tile in our entry way.

This is the before pic...

And this is after

I think Nate did a great job! It looks fabulous, and it now ties in with the dining room tile. Anyone need to borrow my talented hubby? :) Yeah for us! Now we just need to get the blasted carpet ordered and put in and our house back together. By the way, check out the other post, I did two :)

Photo takin time!

I got Hannah this cute new headband so I had to take some pictures. The neighbor girls, Harlee Ann and Cassie Belnap, helped me out because she doesn't like to sit still for very long. I think this one turned out pretty good, if only she was smiling.

Itty bitty pretty one

This one is cute of them together. They just love Hannah!

I still need to work on getting good pictures of the boys. Wish me luck! :)

Dazed and confused....

Okay, so not only have I lost brain cells from being pregnant 3 times. I think they are quickly depleting with all the paint fumes I have been breathing for the last while. It's nice to have the buzz to get me through the day though! :) Hahaha! Sorry about the corny post, but I don't have any cute pics to put on here. I better work on that one!

My little sponge

Caleb is too funny! Have you seen the Night at the Museum movie? Well my kids love it, it must be the dinosaur bones that run around. Well it's a pretty good show, so if you haven't seen it, you should. So in part of the show the stone face guy talks to the guard and he's calling him dumb, dumb. Well Caleb is eating his dinner last night, actually playing with it, and he says "dumb, dumb, you better run, run!" That's a line from that movie! What a crazy kid! And earlier in the day he had watched Sesame Street, and on it there is a new character named Murray who has a little lamb (which they sing Murray has a little lamb to the tune of you know what) Anyway, this lamb speaks spanish only and Murray has to figure out what they are doing that day by what she tells him in spanish. To get to the point of this story...oh yeah...well little lamb in spanish is ovejita(sp?) so Murray goes around town looking for his lamb and calling out ovejita? ovejita? and this is what Caleb was doing yesterday after watching this show. I think he had his gun and was going hunting or something! Maybe we need to get rid of the T.V. but then where would I get MY entertainment :) Silly Monkey!

Freaky friday!

Well I had quite the scare on friday. Kylan had just left for school and I found out Hannah had a fever. I check it and it's 103! Yikes! So I get her some ibuprofen and had just come back from putting it away and she was acting like she was going to throw up. She was like that for about 5 minutes, just drooling like crazy and swallowing a lot, like she didn't want to throw up(I always do that). So I was holding her in my arms so I could comfort her, I look down and her left cheek starts twitching! I keep watching her and her corner of her mouth is now twitching also and then her left arm starts jerking. I was freaking out! So I try calling the doctor's office to talk to the nurse, and she's not in the office today! The receptionist says she could take a message, but that it would be later on that they would get to it. So I hang up and call every other person I know that is a nurse, and I get their voicemail! AAGHHH! It's good that I have great friends and a couple of them were just next door. I went over to ask their oppinion because Hannah's left side of her face wasn't working. They were able to assure me that it wasn't a stroke and that it was probably the temp that set it off. Then I finally get a hold of Karen Dent and she helped out a lot and she thought it was a seizure. So now I need to decide if I wait and take her to a 2:30pm appointment, or get her to the ER to see if something is wrong. I went with the latter and to make a long story short, everything turned out okay. She had a cat scan and everything looks fine. She just didn't like holding still for that long :) The Doctor said it was a febrile seizure, brought on by the high fever. So now that she has had one, she could have more. So we will be watching her close. It feels good the get this out and vent. And I hope that it never does happen again, because I felt so helpless! It was just too weird watching her do that. I'm sure glad we got it checked out though and that she won't have to be on special seizure meds. It was just too scary!

It's that time of year...

The kids start school and then they get to turn into sales people. Yep, Kylan's school is doing it's fundraiser. So if anyone who reads this is interested, go check out the site. They have some pretty cute stuff! Just go to http://www.gsgfundraising.com/store/brochures.php?sID=gre1074 and click on the right side to view the stuff. It's always fun to shop online! :) Thanks for looking and at least you aren't getting a call from us, right? HAHA Maybe next year I'll make him work hard for his money.

The Knights of the Round Table

Ian came over to play at our house the other day, and the boys had a lot of fun. They decided to fight dragons together, so here are the pics of Sir Ian and Sir Caleb. Aren't they too cute?

They were posing and I had to keep reminding them to hold up their swords, I think Ian was checking to make sure Caleb was doing it :)

Chocolate milk anyone?

So we are repainting most of our house. We tried to pick a neutral color that would look good throughout most of the rooms. We thought we had picked one of the lighter colors that we got samples for. At first it was an adjustment, and the paint really does look like chocolate milk :) But it is starting to grow on us and we like it. It looks really good with the white blinds and trim. Now we just aren't sure how it will look with the new carpet, I guess we'll see. Oh the joys of remodeling!....to be continued.

notice the contrast?

The black rectangles are the windows without the blinds on them, see how Hannah likes being our prisoner?
